We are so happy to feature Faridah who will present the project titled, Abloom Filmfestival, at our event on November 11, 2018!  Read more about the project below:

Project Description

Abloom Film Festival is the organization’s main yearly event. We screen movies from all over the world, and the main aim of the festival is to promote movies of amazing quality about disability, empowerment, role models, community and other essential topics. We also have an opening conference with high ranking cultural celebrities and politicians. Debates, entertainment, voluntary work (refugees and disabled basically run the festival!), movies and networking – that’s Abloom film festival!

We believe it is possible to discuss important issues related to living with – or life with children and young people with disabilities, in a way that is uplifting and creates a positive narrative. Abloom is an aggressive and warm fighter against isolation and stigma. Everyone is welcome – everyone is invitited.

Each year, the festival has a particular theme! In 2018 our theme is: “Universal Design? Equality! “inclusion.” Technology is important, perhaps especially for today’s youth. Various technology platforms provide accessibility and open to communication, networking and entertainment. For people with disabilities, technology means a lot more in everyday life, especially when it comes to accessibility and transportation. The technology has both a practical and a social side. An example is a newly developed aid that allows blind and partially sighted people to participate in social media such as Facebook.

Film is a medium that can reach everyone. Through film we tell stories where feelings and dreams are shared.

Our mission is to create awareness of equal rights and opportunities for all.

Why does this idea matter to you?

Abloom Film Festival is Norway’s first multi-media film festival and has the vision to highlight good and equal opportunities for everyone – to create a cozy and informative meeting place. Throughout the festival, and then the opening seminar in particular, we wish to contribute to the exchange of experiences and attitudes. Abloom focuses on active and equal participation in society, in addition to improving upbringing and living conditions for children and young people with disabilities and their families.

We want to create a meeting place where positive thinking power is central and where everyone feels safe. That way we can fight isolation, guilt and shame.

How will you idea make Oslo a better place?

Decrease poverty, isolation, stigma,
More families with children and youngsters will get access to a cultural event.

How will you use the micro-grant funding to realize your concept?

Abloom buys tickets and awards them to many families with children living in poverty, refugees and people with disabilities. So we would like to support as many children as possible this year.
